The sea dyke is designed to prevent flooding and rising sea water, thus protecting the lives and properties of individuals and organisations on the Dinh Vu peninsula.

The project will also help expand the land for industrial construction to facilitate sustainable development in the Dinh Vu-Cat Hai Economic Zone.

Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Hai Phong Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Tho said that this historic project will protect 2,000 hectares of land reclaimed from the sea for industrial development while ensuring safety for the southern coast of the Dinh Vu peninsula.

The project is scheduled for completion in 2025.
