Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Vietnam Competition and Consumer Authority Le Trieu Dung said: “Sustainable production and consumption is a long-term process, requiring more exchange and sharing activities, to attract the attention of the whole society, thereby calling for a joint effort to make changes towards sustainable production and consumption. The process needs the participation of all subjects in society, in which, consumers are the decisive factor, both a beneficiary, a motivation and a goal for other subjects to aim for.”

General Director of the Voice of Vietnam Do Tien Sy said, that in the face of increasingly serious environmental pollution challenges, many countries around the world have proactively changed their development strategies towards a sustainable economy - a circular economy.

Sy said that businesses need to ensure three principles to successfully transform into a circular economy model, including changing product design, eliminating waste and pollution; increasing the life cycle of products and materials; and regenerating natural ecosystems.

The Government issued Decision No.889/QD-TTg, approving the National action programme on sustainable production and consumption for the 2021-2030 period. The Law on Protection of Consumer Rights (amended), which was passed by the National Assembly in June 2023, also supplements regulations on fostering sustainable production and consumption.
