Project on rice value chain transformation launched

ABO/NDO- A project on transforming the rice value chain,inresponse to climate change and serving sustainable development in the Mekong Delta region, was launched in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap on September 22.

The project funded by the Netherlands Development Organization (SNV) and implemented by the Dong ThapProvincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, has a total capital of more than 22 billion VND.

The five-year project aims to improve the livelihoods of small-scale rice farming households in the project area; build inclusive rice value chains; reduce greenhouse gas emissions from rice production; and support the development of low-carbon rice brands in the province.

The expected result of the project is to reach 50-60 cooperatives and support the livelihoods of about 75,000 small-scale farmers, on a production scale of 75,000 hectares.
