100 outstanding farmers and 63 typical agricultural cooperatives honoured

ABO/NDO- About 100 of the most outstanding farmers and 63 typical agricultural cooperatives in Vietnam in 2023, were honoured by the Vietnam Farmers' Association (VFA) at a ceremony held in Hanoi on October 13.

Speaking at the ceremony, Politburo member and Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man affirmed, that in the history of national construction and defence, the working class has an extremely important position and role.

He also praised the VFA for organising an emulation movement for farmers, to reduce poverty and increase wealth, from which new production and business models have been born.

The NA Permanent Vice Chairman also asked the association to actively build a strong class for farmers and promote their central role in agricultural development and building new rural areas.

The event is part of the "Proud of Vietnamese Farmers” programme, an annual activity to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Farmers' Association and the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Association.

The 100 outstanding farmers are selected from 250 farmers, who are nominated by farmers from provinces and cities, along with experts, scientists and journalists. Among the 100 excellent farmers, Ngo Van De, a farmer in Tra Vinh Province, achieved the highest revenue at 140 billion VND (compared to 70 billion VND in 2022), through the industrial shrimp farming model.
