Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports beat five-year record
ABO/NDO- Vietnam exported 4.2 billion USD worth of fruit and vegetables in the first nine months of 2023, up 72% from a year earlier and shattering the record of 3.81 billion USD set in 2018.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the full-year figure is expected to reach 5.5 billion USD.
Vietnam’s fruit and vegetables were mainly exported to China, Japan, the US, the Republic of Korea and the Netherlands — which all posted strong growth except for the US, which saw a slight decrease.

Specifically, exports to China soared 134% to 2.26 billion USD, while the respective growth figures for the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, and Japan were 50%, 18% and 6%.
China was also the largest importer of Vietnamese fruit and vegetables, followed by the US and the Republic of Korea.
Durian was an impressive performer, shooting up by 700% to reach 1.28 billion USD during the January-August period thanks to strong demand from China.
The export revenue of durian is expected to hit 1.5 billion in October.
