Speaking at the ceremony to start construction, Quang Tri Chairman Vo Van Hung said My Thuy Port is the province’s key project, expected to attract investment to Quang Tri and boost its socio-economic development.
Approved by the Prime Minister in 2019, the My Thuy Port project covers a total land and water surface area of 685 hectares and includes ten wharves, which will be constructed by 2036.
My Thuy Port is the gateway to the East Sea/South China Sea and the starting point of the east-west economic corridor, linking Vietnam’s Quang Tri with Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
Speaking at the event, the investor said by 2025, they will strive to complete two to four wharves as well as technical infrastructure so that the port can accommodate vessels of up to 100,000 tonnes.
Along with this key project, Quang Tri is also working on other important projects, including the Quang Tri Industrial Park, Quang Tri Airport and the Hai Lang LNG Power Centre.
