Ho Chi Minh statue to be completed by 2015

A statue of President Ho Chi Minh will be completed in the city named after him by 2015, to mark the 40th anniversary of Southern liberation, national unification and the 125th anniversary of his birth.

The information was released on September 11, at the 15th meeting of Ho Chi Minh city People’s Council (8th tenure). At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Hua Ngoc Thuan, made a presentation on the implementation of the project.

In 2013, the city held a design competition for the statue, which attracted 32 designs, and gathered opinions from local people.

The statue will be placed in front of the city People’s Committee and People’s Council, which is the most convenient, beautiful and solemn position for everyone to contemplate Uncle Ho’s portrait.
