Nam Dinh-born girl crowned Miss Vietnam 2014

Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen from Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province won the title of Miss Vietnam 2014 on the final night of the national pageant held at Vinpearl Land in Kien Giang province’s Phu Quoc island district on December 6.

This year’s national beauty contest looked to honouring the comprehensive beauty of Vietnamese women, while highlighting patriotism and national pride.

After six months of conducting the preliminary and semifinal rounds, 38 candidates made it through to the final held from November 23 to December 6.

Ky Duyen, 18, is currently a first-year student of the Foreign Trade University. She overcame the other four of the final top five in the Q&A contest with a convincing answer to the question on the beauty of Vietnamese women, which, she said, were the sacrifice and gentleness. Duyen was also crowned with the title of Miss Beach Beauty.

The first runner-up was Nguyen Tran Huyen My from Hanoi, while Nguyen Lam Diem Trang from Vinh Long province was named the second runner-up.

Other special awards include Miss Talent La Thi Kieu Anh (Thanh Hoa province), Miss Best Skin Nguyen Thanh Tu (Hanoi), Miss Long Dress (Ao Dai) Nguyen Huynh Truc Mai (Can Tho), Miss Best Evening Gown Nguyen Tran Huyen My (Hanoi), Miss Popular Vote Do Thi Hue (Quang Ninh), Miss Most Beautiful Hair Nguyen Thi Ha (Quang Binh) and Miss Most Beautiful Face Nguyen Lam Diem Trang (Vinh Long).
