Diverse cultural activities to welcome New Year 2015

Localities nationwide are preparing a range of diverse cultural events and art activities for entertainment programs welcoming in the New Year 2015.

In Hanoi, the Hanoi city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to organize over 50 art performances from December 31st, 2014 to January 1st, 2015. Accordingly, local people in 30 districts will enjoy art performances at stages, cultural centers and suburban areas and especially in remote areas

On December 31st, songs praising love for the homeland and Hanoi will be performed at the central stage of Ba Dinh district; circus performances will take place in Ha Dong district; Cheo singing performances will be held in Ba Vi district. On January 1st, Quan Ho folk singing will be performed in Chuong My district by artisans from Bac Ninh province; and Cai Luong singing performances will take place in Soc Son district.

A series of cultural activities to welcome the New Year such as folklore singing performances and games of ethnic minority groups in northern Vietnam will take place at the Culture-Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Son Tay town from January 1st-4th.

In Sapa town, the northwestern mountainous province of Lao Cai, a special art performance and love market will take place on January 3rd. Visitors will have an opportunity to discover specific characteristic of folk singing of the Red Dao ethnic minority group and other customs of the Mong ethnic minority group. On this occasion, Ham Rong and Cat Cat tourism areas and other eco-tourism sites in Ta Van, Ban Ho and Ta Phin villages will organize special culture and arts activities for tourists.

In Hoi An ancient town, the central province of Quang Nam, weaving, textile and embroidery performances and street art performances will take places in streets such as Bach Dang, Tran Phu and in ancient houses to welcome the new year. On December 31st, a street gastronomy festival will draw the participation of restaurants.

In the central city of Da Nang, the new-year welcoming program titled “I love Da Nang” will take place at 9p.m on December 31st at the 29/3 square, drawing the participation of famous Vietnamese singers such as Trong Tan and Anh Tho, the Wall band, FB Boiz band and DJ Take from Japan.

Film screenings are being held at Le Do cinema from December 24th to January 2nd and from February 17th to 26th. In addition, mobile film screenings will take place in remote areas, armed force units and schools in the city. In addition, a photo exhibition will be organized at Da Nang museum.

In Ho Chi Minh city, a special program will be held with the highlight of a firework show at midnight on December 31st. Furthermore, art performances will take place in many places on December 31st and January 1st to serve children, students at universities workers in industrial zones.
