More than 300 objects, documents, propaganda posters and photos on display, dating back to the country’s resistance war against the US, recall the historic happenings and the resounding victory of the General Offensive and Uprising in the spring of 1975 as well as the determination to win of the Vietnamese army and people during the period.
The exhibition, co-organised by Military Zone 9’s Politics Department and the Vietnam Military History Museum, aims to fuel national pride and patriotism among younger generations, thus encouraging them to work together for national construction and defence.
It is open for visitors until May 5 at the Military Zone 9 Museum, 6 Hoa Binh Boulevard, An Cu ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city.
Joining the nationwide celebrations of the country’s reunification day, Quang Tri provincial Library hosted a book fair on the same day, showcasing over 11,000 books on various topics.
Books of the same topics have been arranged in specific shapes. For instance, books on the life and revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh have been arranged in the form of his Mausoleum in Hanoi, while publications on Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes and the country’s seas are in the form of a lighthouse. Hien Luong bridge over Ben Hai River, a symbol of the border between the north and south of Vietnam during the anti-US resistance war, has been recreated using historical books about the national liberation campaign, while a bronze drum has been created from books on the topic of preservation and promotion of cultural heritages.
According to Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Information and Communications, Nguyen Hoan, the book fair is being held to honour those working in the publishing industry while encouraging reading in the community.
