Vietnamese gymnasts leave for pre-SEA Games training in Canada
The national gymnastics team have left for Canada for a 22-day training course from March 30 to April 20, as part of their preparations for the upcoming 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore this June.

The team has 17 members including 13 athletes, two experts and two trainers. Notable among the gymnasts are Phan Thi Ha Thanh, Dinh Thanh Tung and Pham Phuoc Hung, who are known as Vietnam’s leading talents in this sport.
After the training course, some members of the national team will compete in the World Cup competition in Bulgaria from May 3 to 11 before flying home to prepare for their SEA Games mission.
The Canada-funded training is of great importance to Vietnamese athletes as it will help improve their expertise and boost their spirit towards bigger achievements in the future, including securing a 2016 Olympics berth and winning international medals, according to Nguyen Kim Lan, general secretary of the Vietnam Gymnastics Federation.
Most recently, top Vietnamese gymnast Phan Thi Ha Thanh delivered a brilliant performance at the eighth FIG Artistic Gymnastics Challenge Cup in Doha, Qatar, winning gold on balance beam and securing another silver medal in the vault event.
