Binh Duong, who remains atop the 2015 V-League standings, is always considered an overwhelming threat to any competitors, even when playing on away fields. Therefore, there had been little doubt about the prospect of their victory against underdogs Khanh Hoa.
Right from the first whistle, Binh Duong, with a team of experienced players, promptly took control of the match with a wave of attacks, forcing Sanna Khanh Hoa to work hard on defence.
Despite creating many chances to score, the 2014 V-League winners still could not find the back of the net during the first 45 minutes.
After the break, Sanna Khanh Hoa regained confidence and bravely deployed spells of offence on Becamex Binh Duong.
While the guests’ offensive line was absorbed in seeking the opener, their defender Dang Van Robert made a serious 59th-minute mistake enabling the hosts’ Uche to take the ball before beating goalkeeper Quoc Thien Esele to score the solitary goal of the game.
With this victory, Khanh Hoa have extended their unbeaten run to 11 of 12 games in this year’s V-League season and climbed to fifth place in the standings with 21 points, just four points below leaders Becamex Binh Duong.
In other 12th-round matches, Song Lam Nghe An lost 1-2 to Dong Nai on home field, while Dong Thap and SHB Da Nang overcame Hanoi T&T and Quang Ninh Coal respectively with the same scores of 2-0.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Thanh Hoa were held to respective 2-2 and 1-1 draws by QNK Quang Nam and XSKT Can Tho, while Dong Tam Long An secured a close win of 1-0 over LG Hai Phong.
