Roland Garros Junior: Ly Hoang Nam advances in boys' doubles event

Vietnam’s tennis prodigy Ly Hoang Nam qualified for the second round of the 2015 Roland Garros Junior boys’ doubles event after pairing with Russian Bogdan Bobrov to overcome Matteo Martineau and Alexander Muller, both from France, 2-0 on June 1.

Nam’s side came out in full force in the first set, forcing the French pair to concede a heavy 0-6 loss.

The second set saw a minor uprising from the French side, but they could not stop Nam and Bobrov from scoring a 6-3 victory as well as a berth in the next round.

Next up for Nam and his partner will be a crunch encounter against German Tim Sandkaulen and Hungarian Mate Valkusz.

Earlier on May 30, Nam also advanced into the second round of the boys’ singles discipline, scheduled for today, after beating French player Maxime Mora 2-0. His next opponent will be American Nathan Ponwith, who fought hard to beat Germany’s Louis Wessels 3-1 (3-6, 7-5 and 6-2).
