The selected projects are ‘Cha Cha Cha’ and ‘The Lottery Boy’ by young directors Do Quoc Trung and Tran Dung Thanh Duy, respectively.
They will be produced by young directors who have already been honoured at many international film festivals, with Phan Dang Di and Tran Bich Ngoc producing ‘Cha Cha Cha’, and Nguyen Hoang Diep and Nguyen Trinh Hoan producing ‘The Lottery Boy’.
Do Quoc Trung is considered an up-and-coming Asian director, alongside Kanu Behl (India) who was invited to the Un Certain Regard section of 2014 Cannes Film Festival with his first feature film, and Eddie Cahyono (Indonesia) who was invited to the 2014 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
The APM is the largest film investment and co-production organisation in Asia. There are 30 official projects from 15 countries being produced for its 18th year.
Over the past 17 years, APM has supported a total of 442 projects, of which around 200 were completed and presented at numerous prestigious film festivals around the world.
The host, the RoK, made a strong impression at this year’s event with seven selected projects by talented directors such as 2014 Busan International Film Festival invitee director Kim Tae-yong and 2014 Berlin International Film Festival invitee director Leesong Heeil.
The 2015 APM also saw an increase in the participation of other Asian countries, particularly Indonesia, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Philippines and Iraq.
The 18th APM will take place from October 4 to 10 in Busan city.
