Over 1,000 actors and artists from 21 art troupes across the country are taking part in the National Professional Song and Dance Competition 2015 (second phase), which opened in Ba Ria – Vung Tau province on September 10.
According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien, who serves as head of the contest, the competition aims to evaluate the quality of artistic activities and performances of professional art troupes over the past three years, as well as put forth development orientations for the next three years, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the traditional cultural values of each of the 54 ethnic groups across the country.
The competition also promises to offer artists an opportunity to meet and exchange experiences in the field of art.
According to the organising board, the artists will bring to the stage performances featuring the beauty of the country and people of Vietnam, as well as the traditional values and cultural characteristics of ethnic groups across the country.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism every three years, will run until September 19.
