My Thuan Bridge photo contest launched

My Thuan Bridge, the symbol of Vietnam-Australia friendship, was opened to traffic in March 2000 as the first cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam that met the international quality standards, serving as the benchmark for infrastructure construction of Vietnam.

Just a year after the bridge was put into operation, people living on both sides of the river enjoyed an increase of 30 percent in income. On the average, more than 5 million vehicles travel through the bridge each year.

My Thuan Bridge photo contest was launched by the Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City in celebration of 15 years since My Thuan Bridge was put into operation.

As for the contest, all Vietnamese people, especially those living in southern provinces around the bridge are eligible to join. The photos submitted should provide captions explaining the benefits that the bridge has brought to them, their families, friends, and the community as a whole.

The winners are entitled to prizes including digital SLR cameras and sets of Ipad mini.

The contest will run until November 1st.
