Nearly 150 badminton players to compete in Vietnam International Series
Some 150 badminton players from Indonesia, Singapore, Canada, Malaysia, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, the Philippines and Vietnam are competing in the 2015 Kawasaki Vietnam International Series, taking place at the Tien Son Sports Palace in Da Nang from September 30 to October 4.

The five-day event, under the Badminton World Federation (BWF) competition system, offers a good opportunity for participants to accumulate points to improve their position in the BWF world rankings.
Total prize money of US$5,000 is up for grabs in the men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and the mixed doubles categories, with the men’s and women’s singles winners receiving US$375 each.
Vietnam is being represented by 17 players in the men’s singles event, including the country’s number one player Nguyen Tien Minh, who is named the top seed as world no. 38.
The women’s singles discipline features 20 Vietnamese players, ten of whom must compete in the preliminary round to seek main-round slots. Vietnam’s top female shuttler Vu Thi Trang With is top seed at 55th in the world.
At last year’s tournament, Vietnamese representatives performed outstandingly, winning three of the five championship titles thanks to Vu Thi Trang in the women’s singles; Vu Thi Trang and Nguyen Thi Sen in the women’s doubles; and Manh Thang and Nhu Thao in the mixed doubles category.
