Accordingly, the tournament will open competing opportunities for U-16 teams of the four qualifying national squads which secured tickets to the 2016 AFC U-16 Final, including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Australia.
Official times and competition procedures will be announced later by the AFF.
Vietnam was the champion of the AFF U-16 Youth Championship in 2006 and 2010. In 2013, it came in at fourth place.
The AFF also approved plans to organise other official tournaments for 2016, such as the elimination round of the AFF Cup 2016 in October and its final round in December; the 2016 AFF Woman Football Championship scheduled for Myanmar in June; the AFF Futsal tournament, and the AFF U-19.
Notably, the U-20 Futsal tournament will appear in the AFF’s 2016 fixture, which is considered a highlight of the sports development in the region, enabling countries to promote training.
