Free screenings of films competing for 19th Vietnam Film Festival

Free film screenings will take place in Hanoi and Da Nang from November 18-24 to welcome the 19th Vietnam Film Festival.

The event is jointly organised by the Cinematography Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Hanoi and Da Nang Municipal Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the National Cinema Centre, and the Centre for Film Distribution and Projection Da Nang.

Film lovers will have a chance to enjoy 20 feature films by 16 film studios participating in the 19th Vietnam Film Festival.

This year’s festival in Hanoi will be opened by a recently completed film entitled Cuoc Doi cua Yen (Life of Yen) while the event in Da Nang will be opened by Nguoi Tro Ve (The Return of Soldiers).

Other films will also be shown, including My Nhan (Beauty), Diu Dang (Gentle), Trung So (Jackpot), Quyen, Chang Trai Nam Ay (The Long Gone Boy), Huong Ga (Rise), Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass), Dap Canh Giua Khong Trung (Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere); Nha Tien Tri (Predictor); Nhung Dua Con Cua Lang (Children of the Village), Thau Chin o Xiem (Thau Chin in Thailand), among others.

Free tickets are available at the National Cinema Centre at 87 Lang Ha Street, Hanoi, and at Le Do Cinema in Da Nang.

The 19th Vietnam Film Festival will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from December 1 to 5.

Themed ‘Vietnamese Cinema - Ethnicity, Humanity, Innovation and Integration’, the national cultural event aims to present cinematographic works imbued with rich national identity, humanity and creativity as well as honour artists who have made remarkable achievements in the field.

The festival, organised by the MCST and the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, will include a number of award categories, including awards for movies, awards for individuals, and people’s choice awards.

Numerous activities will be held on the sidelines of the event, including exhibitions, cultural exchanges and workshops on cinema.
