Co-organised by the city’s Department of Information and Communications, Journalism Association and Vietnam Publishing Association - Ho Chi Minh City branch, this is the first time the event has taken place to introduce special press publications.

It is also the opening event for cultural activities taking place throughout the year in the southern hub.

The Spring Press Street will last until January 31, with a range of displays including an exhibition on 2016 Spring Newspapers, a display of spring newspapers and magazines in the past with data offered by Ho Chi Minh City Library, a photo exhibition on journalism activities, and an exhibition on e-newspapers.

Readers to the event will also have a chance to have their portraits drawn by cartoonists and calligraphy works or dress as characters in Japanese comics. Typical Vietnamese street foods will be also introduced at the event.

Interaction programmes are also being held, including a vote for the most impressive spring press covers, introducing new works and exploring old book collection.
