Divided into two themes: ‘Thang Long – Hanoi’ and ‘The Party, the Spring’, the book street features 20 booths displaying various kinds of books, including books for children, literature, economics, science, technology, foreign languages, e-books and digital devices.

At the event, writers and poets will introduce and present books as well as meet with readers.

In addition, visitors to the street will have a chance to learn more about calligraphy, ask for parallel sentences for Tet, and colour historical books.

Notably, a separate and quiet area was arranged on the street for readers to relax and read their favourite books.

On the occasion, Kim Dong Publishing House has new books at discounted prices for young readers.

This is the first time the Spring Book Street is being held, aiming to create a cultural rendezvous for Hanoi residents on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, towards building a learning society.

The event contributes to honouring the traditional fondness for learning and patriotism as well as the reading culture of Vietnamese people, particularly promoting Hanoians' learned spirit.

The book street offers an opportunity for the capital’s publishing houses to share experience and seek more co-operation with domestic and international partners.

The 2016 Spring Book Street will run until February 15.
