No.1 player Ly Hoang Nam is expected to power Vietnam past Indonesia, with the support of his three remaining teammates Nguyen Hoang Thien, Vu Artem and reigning national champion Pham Minh Tuan.

Nam’s tennis career took off in 2015 as he claimed the Wimbledon boys’ doubles title before making the semifinals of two Men’s Futures tournaments in Egypt and Cambodia.

Most recently, Nam cruised into the quarterfinals of the 2015 China F1 Futures, which promises to lift him up in the next ATP rankings.

The 2016 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group II will bring together eight teams - Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Chinese Taipei, Kuwait, Malaysia and Sri Lanka - in three rounds of competition.

Vietnam will play Indonesia in the first round to seek a second-round slot. The winning team of Group II competition will be promoted to Group I next year, while the losers of the first round will have to join play-off matches to decide the teams who remain in Group II in 2017.

Last year, Vietnam’s tennis players beat their rivals from Hong Kong (China) 2-0 in the final Group III play-off on March 28, moving on to play in the Asia/Oceania Zone Group II at this year’s Davis Cup season.
