A total of 150 photos on display feature the natural beauty and the daily life of people in the central province of Quang Ngai as well as Ly Son island district, where the Hoang Sa Flotilla was established in the first half of the 17th century.
According to Vietnam’s feudal state history, The Hoang Sa Flotilla was set up when the Nguyen Lords began their reign in the south of the country. The flotilla’s sailors carried missions of surveying sea routes, planting milestones and installing steles affirming national territory in Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, and mine marine resources ordered by Nguyen Lords.
Addressing the opening, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said that the exhibition made a call for patriotism and determination to safeguard the national sovereignty.
He expressed his hope that the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists would continue co-ordinating with local arts and literature associations to host such meaningful displays for the public.
The exhibition is co-organised by the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and the Quang Ngai Provincial Literature and Arts Association.
It will last until March 20 at the National Photo Archives and Exhibition Centre, D25 Ton That Thuyet Street, Cau Giay District in Hanoi.
