8 famous works of writer Doan Gioi reprinted
Kim Dong Publishing House has just introduced to reader a series of works associated with writer Doan Gioi including 8 books such as: “Nguoi thuy thu gia tren hon dao luu day (The old sailor on exile island), “Ca bong mu” (A grouper), “Cuoc truy tam kho bau” (The weapon depot hunt), “Hoa huong duong” (The sunflower), “Rung dem xao xac” (The ruslting night forest), “Tran Van On” (memoirs), “Te giac trong ngàn xanh” (Rhino in the forest), “Nhung chuyen la ve ca” (The queer stories about fish).
In this second edition, works of writer Doan Gioi were designed meticulously. Book covers, illustrations, paintings in postcards with lines, youthful helped works to be more lively.
On the occasion of launching these books, Kim Dong Publishing House organized many activities such as: visiting writer Doan Gioi’s tomb, visiting his family and presenting Doan Gioi’s bookcase to Doan Gioi secondary school in Chau Thanh district, organizing the seminar with "Writer Doan Gioi- the southern great author" theme, on the morning of October 10 at Kim Dong Center Book.
Writer Doan Gioi was born 1925 in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province. He is a founding member of the Vietnam Writers Association, member of the first, second and third Executive Committee. He writes in many genres such as: fiction, novel, short story, memoirs, etc… with the pseudonym as Nguyen Hoai, Nguyen Phu Le, Huyen Thu, etc...
His stories about the southern region are the most popular, especially “Southern forest land” novel, one of the most popular literary works for children over the past half century, adapted for “Lan of the South” film by Ho Chi Minh Television Film company in 1997.
His works often write about the land and people in the South, including forest land south novel is one of his famous works, has been City Television Film Company. Ho Chi Minh adapted into the film "Land of the South" in 1997. Doan Gioi died in 1989 at Ho Chi Minh city and was posthumously awarded the State Prize for Literature - Art in 2001. His name was given to the street in Tan Phu district, Ho Chi Minh city and the secondary school in his hometown, Tien Giang province.
