National conference for young writers opens
The 9th National Conference for Young Writers 2016 officially opened at the Vietnamese Literature Museum in Hanoi on September 28.

This year’s conference drew the participation of 112 outstanding young writers, whose works were highly appreciated by many prestigious press agencies and publishing houses.
Addressing the opening ceremony, poet Nguyen Huu Thinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, affirmed that young writers today had many advantages as well as more opportunities to foster their talents. However, they should strive harder to improve their knowledge with better education to make their work come to life, he added.
Held every five years, the event aims to create new developments in the country’s literature and provide young writers with new material to understand more about the province and its people.
Under the framework of the conference, a series of activities, such as participating in a poetry gala evening and an exhibition on portraits and works of outstanding writers; exchanges with writers and reporters from the People’s Newspapers from the old generation; and enjoying the seminars “Young Poetry-Tradition and Innovation” and “Young Literature—Integration and Creation.”
The conference took place from September 28-29.
