Thai film festival kicks off in Ho Chi Minh City
The 2016 Thai Film Festival officially opened at CGV Vivo City in District 7 of Ho Chi Minh City on September 30, part of a series of activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam and Thailand’s establishment of diplomatic ties (August 6, 1976-2016).

The three-day festival was an opportunity to promote the achievements of Thai cinema, conveying the image of the land and people of Thailand to both Vietnamese and international audiences.
Through the event, directors, actors, actresses and film producers can share their experience and introduce their works.
At the opening ceremony for the festival, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Manopchai Vongphakdi said that over the past 40 years, the relations between Vietnam and Thailand had been continuously consolidated and developed, yielding positive results in numerous fields.
The Thai Film Festival in Ho Chi Minh City is a meaningful cultural event, enhancing the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and significantly contributing to the development of the ASEAN Community, added the Thai Ambassador.
He added that the event was also a good first step for cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand in the field of cinematography.
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien expressed her hope that the festival would contribute to boosting the cooperative relations and cultural and arts exchanges between the two countries.
The films screened at the festival were divided into different types, including emotion, horror and cartoons, such as “That Sounds Good,” “Love H20,” “Echo Planet” and “Ladda Land,” all expected to delight Vietnamese audiences.
