After the last match yesterday, Quang Ninh Coal have four points, replacing Yadanarbon to rank second in Group H. Yadanarbon have the same points but with a lesser goal difference.

Both the teams have no chance of advancing to the knock-out stage of the annual tournament.

The group leader Singapore’s Home United ensured their next round’s slot after winning three out of four matches.

The hosts seemed to have lost their will to play presenting a slow pace and did seem too eager to open attacks.

Meanwhile, coach Phan Thanh Hùng asked his strongest players to pocket at least a win before returning home.

The visiting side had their opening goal in the 38th minute by midfielder Nay Myo Aung of Yadanarbon.

Ngo Đuc Thang hit a straight shot that ricocheted off the pole to Nay who headed straight to the net, leaving his goalkeeper Pyae Lian Aung standstill.

Dương Van Khoa made it 2-0 for Quang Ninh Coal about 10 minutes after the interval.

The left-wing defender had a perfect free kick to the high far corner of goalie Pyae who tried his best but failed to block the ball.

Substitute Nguyen Hai Huy finalised the score at the 73rd mark, just several minutes after he was sent into the field.

The midfielder broke into Yadanarbon’s area without difficulty before confronting Pyae in a one-one situation. And his finish easily found the net.

In Group C’s activities, Al Wehdat of Jordan sealed the top spot and a place in the zonal semi-finals after a 3-2 win over Bahrain’s Al Muharraq on Monday.

A Mohammed Al Ghassani hattrick saw Oman’s Saham come from a goal down to end their cup campaign with a 3-1 win over Nejmeh from Lebanon.

Other groups’ matches will be played today.
