SEA Games: Vietnam's gold medal tally increased to 25
Ha Minh Thanh brought home the first gold medal for Vietnamese shooting at the 29th SEA Games in Malaysia after winning the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol final on the afternoon of August 23.

Thanh scored 586 points in the preliminary round, which surpassed the previous Games record of his own, 584 points.
In the final competition, the Vietnamese shooter finished victorious with 25 points, one point more than the Malaysian silver medalist and six points ahead of the bronze medal winner from Thailand
Nguyen Tien Nhat secured Vietnam’s second fencing gold medal following his 12-7 victory against Thailand’s Chamcharern Panthewit in the men’s epee final.
Vietnam’s track and field team claimed their third title in this year’s SEA Games, as Vu Thi Men won the women’s triple jump discipline with a jump of 14.15 metres. The previous two gold medals were secured on Tuesday by Nguyen Thi Huyen and Le Tu Chinh in the women’s 400m hurdles and 100m sprint, respectively.
The karate team enjoyed a fruit day, with Ho Thi Thu Hien and Nguyen Minh Phung adding two gold medals to Vietnam’s tally.
Thu Hien defeated her Thai opponent, Kanokwan Kwanwong, with a score of 3-0 to win the women’s under-68kg event, while Minh Phung settled for the men’s 75kg title following his 8-0 win over Theerapat Kangtong of Thailand.
As of 5.30pm today, Vietnam continued retaining its second place on the provisional medal haul with 25 gold medals.
