Inspired by the 2-1 win in the first leg, Song Lam Nghe An began the game at a high tempo and deployed multiple attacks, whilst hosting Binh Duong at Vinh Stadium on Thursday.
The home fans had the chance to celebrate the opener after only 18 minutes, as foreigner Danko slotted home Van Duc’s header from close range. The advantage was doubled for the Nghe An side thanks to Van Duc’s powerful shot just six minutes later.
The early two-goal deficit forced Binh Duong to go on the offence as they sought an equaliser.
Anh Duc took advantage of Nghe An’s defensive lapses to pull a goal back for Binh Duong in the 28th minute, only to see his effort canceled out by Van Duc, who made it 3-1 for Nghe An from Ngoc Hai’s pass eight minutes later.
After half-time, manager Nguyen Duc Thang’s side continued to dominate, but few concrete chances were created by both teams during the first 20 minutes of the second half.
Binh Duong’s hopes for a resurgence were dealt a massive blow as Olaha extended the gap to 4-1 for Nghe An, before they were completely extinguished in the 90+1 minute, with Phuc Tinh scoring to put the game to bed.
With the aggregate 7-2 triumph, Song Lam Nghe An lifted the National Cup trophy in the most convincing fashion, ending their title “thirst” during the past six years since the V-League crown in 2011.
