The 8th provincial sports festival kicks off

ABO – A ceremony to open the 8th provincial Sports Festival 2018 was held at the Provincial Stadium on the evening of April 23.

Attending the event were Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Tien Giang provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Danh; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Vo Van Binh and leaders of provincial People’s Council, People’s Committee, sectors, departments together with crown spectators at the Provincial Stadium.

The congress held from December 30, 2017 – April 26, 2018 divided into two stages. The first phase took place from December 30, 2017 – April 21, 2018 with 16 competitions. The second phase took place from April 23 to 26, 2018 with the remaining competitions including: Men's Football Final, Athletics, Teakwondo, Tennis. Up to the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee conferred 513 sets of medals (153 gold medals, 153 silver medals and 207 bronze medals) for 16 competitions.

At the opening ceremony, Secretary of the Tien Giang provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Danh received the torch received by the excellent provincial athletes from the provincial martyr's cemetery to light the traditional fire of the festival.
