LienVietPostBank men's volleyball tournament kicks off in Ha Nam
ABO/NDO - The first LienVietPostBank International Men’s Volleyball Tournament kicked off at a gymnasium in the northern province of Ha Nam on May 25.
Six teams, including China II, Burevestnik Club (Kazakhstan), Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, are competing in the tournament, which will last until May 31, for a total cash prize of US$40,000.
The champions will be awarded US$15,000.
Pundits have stated that the tournament has gathered many relatively strong teams from Southeast Asia and a number of good players from China.
The Kazakhstani club of Burevestnik remain a mystery and promise to bring a surprise to the tournament, which is an opportunity for the Vietnamese men’s volleyball team to play against strong opponents prior to the 2018 Asian Games.
Vietnam defeated Myanmar 3-1 in their first match, following the opening ceremony, while Burevestnik and Thailand had earlier beaten Indonesia and China II 3-2 and 3-0 respectively.
