Asian Cup: Midfielder Quang Hai voted as best player of Group Stage

ABO/NDO – The Vietnamese attacking midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai has been voted by football fans worldwide as the best player of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Group Stage.

Hai is the standout from a list of 10 established stars of Asian football selected by the AFC according to their excellent performance of the group stage.

After four days of voting, which concluded at 3 pm on January 22, the poll attracted a total of 1,213,479 online votes from across the globe. Of which, the 21-year-old Vietnamese forward outstripped his rivals to take the lead with 604,167 votes, accounting for 50% of the total votes.

 

According to the AFC, Hai has been instrumental for Vietnam and it’s his incisiveness that has created the best of Vietnam’s chances.

 

The first and second runners-up were Ashkan Dejagah (Iran) and Eldor Shomurodov (Uzbekistan).

 

Hai is also taking the lead in the vote for best goal of UAE 2019 Group Stage, which saw 96 goals scored in the 36 matches. The midfielder’s wonderful goal in the match against Yemen has polled the most votes from fans (44%) on the AFC website.
