After booking their last 16 place through the narrow gate, the Golden Dragons are now in an excited mood. More importantly, coach Park Hang-seo will have his strongest squad for the Jordan encounter without any injured or suspended players.
Shortly after landing in Dubai, the entire team and the coaching staff set aside the joy of progressing through the group stage to focus on serious training aimed at achieving the best results against the West Asian opponents.
Ahead of the first training session on the afternoon of January 18, Park warned his players that Jordan are a strong team and the Golden Dragons will have to make greater efforts and stay optimally focused for the new challenge. Everything can happen in football and success will never come without serious preparations, he said.
In addition to the tactical exercises aiming to cope with Jordan, the 60-year-old coach also paid proper attention to the fitness recovery solutions for the players. The advent of qualifying for the round of 16 in the last few minutes has created favourable and positive impacts on the spirit of the Vietnamese warriors, inspiring them to be more confident and excited in training for the upcoming match.
As scheduled, Vietnam and Jordan will meet at Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai at 6pm on January 20 (Vietnamese time) to battle for a place in the Asian Cup quarterfinals.
