Film on traditional theatre genre of 'cai luong' wins Golden Lotus Award
ABO/NDO – ‘Song Lang’ (The Tap Box), a film highlighting the traditional theatre genre of ‘cai luong’ (reformed opera), was honoured with the Golden Lotus Award in the motion picture category at the 21st National Film Festival.

The closing ceremony was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Education and Communication, Vo Van Thuong; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien; and numerous artists working in the film industry.
For their roles in 'Song Lang' film, Leon Le, Pham Luu Tuan Tai, and Ghia Pham also brought home the Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Film Designer Awards, respectively.
Earlier, Le won the Best Director award while his film grabbed the Samir Farid Prize at the third edition of the Sharm El-Sheikh Asian Film Festival in Egypt in March this year.
Three Silver Lotus Awards in the motion picture category were given to ‘Cua Lai Vo Bau’ (Winning Back My Pregnant Wife), ‘Hai Phuong’ (Furie), and ‘Truyen Thuyet Ve Quan Tien’ (Legend of Quan Tien).
Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under the theme “Building a Vietnamese cinema industry with humanity, creativity and integration", the five-day national film festival featured 74 films across the four categories of motion picture, documentary, science film, and cartoons.
At the closing ceremony, the organising board presented the Golden Lotus, Silver Lotus and Jury Awards to the outstanding films in each category.
Awards honouring prominent individuals, including the Best Scriptwriter, Best Cameraman, Best Leading Actor and Actress, and Best Sound Editing, were also delivered on the occasion.
