First traditional Vietnamese Tet Festival opens in HCM City
ABO/NDO – Tet Festival, the first of its kind, opened at the Le Van Tam Park in Ho Chi Minh City on January 3 in the presence of Politburo member and Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.
The event, jointly held by the municipal Department of Tourism and the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association, will run until January 5.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong expressed his appreciation of the efforts of the tourism sector in recreating a warm and joyful traditional Vietnamese Tet atmosphere.
The festival which holds about 100 stalls recreated traditional customs and anecdotes about Vietnamese Tet. Various Tet specialties and regional dishes are also being showcased at the festival such as Nam Dinh pho (noodles), Hue nem (spring rolls), Phu Yen tuna, and others.
Visitors also have the chance to experience how to make chung cake and tet cake and to play folk games. The worship space of the Vietnamese people in the three regions of the country were also reproduced at the festival.
Chairman of the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association Nguyen Quoc Ky, said that the festival aims to raise people’s awareness of the preservation and protection of cultural identity and culinary quintessence of the Vietnamese people in the modern life.
