Winners of 2021 Literature Awards honoured
ABO/NDO – The Vietnam Writers’ Association held a ceremony in Hanoi on February 14 to honour the winners of the 2021 Literature Awards.
The 2021 Literature Awards attracted the participation of 216 works spread across four categories: Theory and Critics, Poetry-Prose, Children’s Literature, and Translation.
Author Truong Dang Dung won the Theory and Critics category for his research on literary texts and the instability of meaning.
In the Poetry-Prose category, writer Nguyen Binh Phuong was honoured for the novel Mot vi du xoang (A Mediocre Example).
The Children’s Literature prize went to Mua tieu hoc cuoi cung (The Final Year of Primary School) by author Le Van Nghia.

Translator Ha The Giang was named the winner in the Translation category for his translation of the novel ‘Out of Africa’ by Isak Dinesen.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia spoke highly of efforts made by the Vietnam Writers’ Association in organising and operating a wide range of activities.
The innovations and creations of the Association in the past year have sent positive messages to readers and the society, he noted.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Writers’ Association also announced its decision to admit 34 new members, majoring in Poetry (15 members), Prose (10 members), Theory and Critics (3 members), Translation (3 members), and Children's Literature (3 members).
