Park announces official player list for SEA Games 31

ABO/NDO - Coach Park Hang-seo has announced the official list of 20 football players for the 31st edition of the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31), scheduled to open next week in Vietnam.

The four excluded players are defender Dang Van Lam, midfielder Nguyen Duc Viet, and forwards Le Xuan Tu and Tran Van Dat. Goalkeeper Trinh Xuan Hoang is being retained for training with Vietnam’s U23 team as a backup option.

The players outside the official list and other players in the preliminary list will be kept on standby in case substitutes are needed.

Under the Games regulations, each team can replace up to 15 players in case of COVID-19 infections but those who have been replaced are not allowed to return, even after they have recovered from the virus.

Vietnam will meet Indonesia in the opening match of Group A, scheduled for 7pm on May 6, before facing the Philippines on May 8, Myanmar on May 13, and Timor Leste on May 15.

Games in Group A will take place in Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho Province while matches in Group B will be play in Thien Truong Stadium in Nam Dinh Province.
