Art exhibition honours pure beauty of lotus

ABO/NDO- A lotus art exhibition entitled “Vietnamese lotus 2023 – Pure beauty”, was launched at Quan Su Pagoda in Hanoi on March 25, showcasing 75 lotus paintings by artist Kim Duc.

The exhibition is expected to spread the Buddha’s message of peace, honour artistic creation from the pure beauty of the lotus, and bring positive emotions to the audience.

In the preface to an anthology of lotus paintings by artist Kim Duc, Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Council writes: “Mentioning lotus is to refer to human efforts and progress, to create happiness for themselves and others”.

Director of UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Lazarre Eloundou said that, the exhibition honours artistic creativity and nurtures the soul.

The exhibition is open to visitors free of charge until March 31.

The event was jointly held by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Office, in Hanoi.

The lotus flower has become a symbol of the soul and character of the Vietnamese nation, through thousands of years of history. In Buddhism, the lotus flower is a symbol of spiritual enlightenment, expressing the Buddha nature inherent in every human being.
