Nghe Tinh Vi - Giam Folk Song Festival 2023 opens
ABO/NDO- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Nghe An province held the opening ceremony of the Nghe Tinh Vi - Giam Folk Song Festival 2023, in Vinh City (Nghe An), on July 28.
The Nghe Tinh Vi - Giam Folk Song Festival 2023 with the theme "Vi, Giam - Shining Essence" is an opportunity for Vi and Giam Nghe Tinh folk songs to converge and shine, affirming the richness and diversity of the Vi, Giam folk songs heritage. At the same time, the festival also features the meeting, interference, cohesion and spread of this art form amongst regions and localities.
Vi - Giam folk singing was officially recognised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity at the 9th session of its Inter-governmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Paris on November 27, 2014.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung emphasised that through the festival, Nghe An province was expected to bring this event into a large-scale cultural and tourism activity, towards building Nghe An cultural and tourism products and brands on the basis of traditional cultural heritage values; promoting exchange activities, creating opportunities to connect cultural heritage with localities throughout the country; strengthening the spirit of solidarity, attachment and cooperation for mutual development.
In order for Nghe Tinh Vi, Giam folk songs to spread and last, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong suggested that in the coming time, it is necessary to raise the awareness and responsibility of the whole society, especially amongst the younger generations, in protecting and promoting the Nghe Tinh Vi-Giam folk songs.
The Nghe Tinh Vi - Giam Folk Song Festival 2023 will last until August 5, with many special activities such as: Nghe Tinh Vi, Giam Folk Song Festival; a Forum for folk singing of three regions and a street festival.
