Seminar reviews copyright enforcement in digital transformation of library sector
ABO/NDO- A seminar themed “Copyright in the digital transformation of library sector” was held in Hanoi on July 12, featuring the participation of leaders from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) as well as about 200 representatives from various agencies and units around the country, as well as experts and scientists in the fields of information technology, libraries, digital transformation and intellectual property.
Speaking at the seminar, Kieu Thuy Nga, Head of the Library Department under the MoCST affirmed that the digital library is a mandatory requirement and inevitable trend in the digital era at the core of digital information resources.
With the strong application of information technology, the digitisation of information resources and the dissemination of information in the digital environment, the issue of copyright is always a key issue for libraries in order to make breakthroughs and affirm their role in society, she added.

The seminar aims to assess the current situation of digital transformation and the issue of copyright enforcement in libraries as well as clarify the achieved results, limitations and difficulties in the process of handling copyright issues in digital library conversion.
The participants also proposed the measures remove barriers in the implementation of the provisions of the law on copyright in digital transformation for each type of library to meet the goal of digital transformation in the library sector until 2025, with an orientation to 2030.
The opinions at the seminar focused on exchanging and discussing basic issues such as promoting the value and advantages of new features on copyright in the Law amending a number of articles of the Intellectual Property Law for digital transformation activities of the library industry in general and the development of digital resources in particular.
The attendees also shared their domestic and international experiences in copyright enforcement and in applying the provisions of the Intellectual Property Law in the process of library digital transformation as well as effective models and practices.
