"Tro tan ruc ro" wins "Best Featured Film" at Golden Kite Awards 2023

ABO/NDO- Director Bui Thac Chuyen's “Tro tan ruc ro” (Glorious Ashes) movie was honoured as the “Best Featured Film” at the Golden Kite Awards 2023 held at Do Theatre in Nha Trang City on September 9.

The movie is adapted from two short stories entitled “Tro tan ruc ro “ (Glorious ashes) and “Cui muc troi ve dau” (Floating rotten wood), by writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu, depicting women’s love in rural villages of the southern region.

Chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association Do Lenh Hung Tu said, that the Golden Kite Awards has been held annually for 20 years, with an increasingly expanded scale and scope. He noted that this year’s awards saw the competition of 157 works in the categories of featured film, television series, documentary film, scientific film, animated film and short film.

In the TV series category, director Nguyen Phuong Dien's TV series “Me Rom” (Sunshine hearts), won the gold award.

Thai Hoa was honoured with “Best Actor”, while Thu Trang was named “Best Actress” for the featured film entitled “Con Nhot mot chong”.

“Best Supporting Actor” and “Best Supporting Actress” went to Pham Huynh Huu Tai and Hanh Thuy.
Regarding the category of TV series, the “Best Actor” title was presented to Thai Hoa, while the “Best Actress” award belonged to Nguyen Thi Quynh (Quynh Kool).

A Wall of Fame was set up for the first time at the Do Theatre to honour award-winning works and individuals with outstanding contributions to Vietnamese cinema. The Wall of Fame features as many as 433 stars representing 107 works and 297 individuals, including authors, artists, filmmakers, and 29 cinematographers.

The Golden Kite Awards 2023 entitled “Brilliant Galaxy” was jointly held by the Vietnam Cinema Association and Vega City under KDI Holdings.
