Professional art festival on defence 2023 wraps up

ABO/NDO- The closing ceremony for the 2023 Professional Art Festival on Defence took place in Hanoi on October 21 after 12 consecutive days of performance.

The closing and award ceremony saw the presence of General Luong Cuong, Member of the Politburo, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, and Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army.

More than 1,500 artists, actors and musicians from 19 art units, brought art performances to the festival in the genres of singing, dancing, and theatrical performances.

Gold medals were presented to the 39 best performances, 13 roles, 6 song and dance programmes and 2 stage plays. Silver medals went to 52 performances, 19 roles, 5 songs and dance programmes and 3 stage plays.

The Vietnam Musicians Association and the Vietnam Dance Artists Association also awarded certificates of merit to 7 orchestras, 15 dance teams and 9 outstanding individuals during the festival.

Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Deputy Chairman of the General Department of Politics and Head of the Steering Committee of the festival said, “The 2023 professional art festival on the topic of defence has been very successful, being a unique cultural and artistic activity, with great political and spiritual significance.”

“Most works have strong vitality and deep emotions, receiving love and admiration from the audience. The most outstanding feature of the festival is the spirit of solidarity, the effort for excellence and the passion for constant creativity and art from soldier artists,” Quyet noted.

The festival was jointly held by the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at the Military Theatre in Hanoi, from October 9-21.
