Traditional costumes festival to be held in Can Tho

ABO/NDO- The Ao Ba Ba and Ao Dai Festival featuring Vietnamese traditional costumes for women, is scheduled to be held at Song Hau Park, in the southern Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from October 13-14.

The event themed “the Southern Charm”, organised by the Can Tho City Women's Union, is among activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary since Can Tho was recognised as a centrally run city and the 93rd anniversary of the Vietnam Women's Union.

The festival is expected to draw the participation of 5,000 women representing different professions and ages.

Ao Ba Ba (Ba Ba shirt) is worn by many Southern women during festivals.

The event will include a wide range of activities such as Ao Ba Ba and Ao Dai parades, an art performance bringing together 500 professional and amateur artists, antique motorbike parades and recreating the "Old Market Corner" at Song Hau Park, with traditional dishes, among others.

The festival aims to honour the beauty, value, and spread love for the Ba Ba shirt and Ao Dai, as well as preserve and promote cultural heritage and the blend of traditional and modern costumes of Vietnamese women.
