Vietnam vs Indonesia, key matches in second qualifying round of 2026 World Cup

ABO/NDO- The matches between the Vietnamese national team and Indonesia will be one of the five most important matches in the second qualifying round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Asia in March, according to FIFA.

With three points, Vietnam currently sit in second place in Group F, while Indonesia, with just one point, occupy the bottom spot. Therefore, the upcoming two matches will greatly determine the ability to take the second place in the group to win a ticket to the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.

The goal of both teams in the upcoming two matches is to win four points. The Vietnamese team hold the advantage at present. Indonesia must secure victories in both matches or at least clinch one win and a draw against Vietnam to propel themselves ahead in the race for the 2026 World Cup third qualifying round.

In Group F, Iraq are leading the group with six points, firmly holding a ticket to go further.

In addition to Vietnam and Indonesia, the remaining four pairs are considered important by FIFA, including Qatar and Kuwait in Group A, Japan and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Group B, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Thailand in Group C, and Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan in Group G.
