Vietnamese culture popularised in Singapore

ABO/NDO- The Vietnamese community in Singapore attended the Racial Harmony Day celebrations recently held by the host nation’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

They brought to the event the homeland’s staples, traditional conical leaf hats, Ao dai (traditional long dress), and cultural art performances.

Head of the liason board of the Vietnamese community Ta Thuy Lien said with the awareness of the significance of bridging cultures and promoting mutual understanding to shape up a harmonised and diverse environment, the community joined the event to introduce the Vietnamese culture to international friends while showing their gratitude towards Singapore for having welcomed and supported the Vietnamese nationals living and working there.

Visiting the Vietnamese booth, Chief of the MOM’s Assurance, Care and Engagement Group Tung Yui Fai spoke highly of the Vietnamese community’s contributions and enthusiastic support to various events in the nation, including the Racial Harmony Day celebrations.

The day is an annual event marked in Singapore on July 21 to commemorate the communal riots of 1964, and promote the harmony and cultural understanding among different ethnic groups.
