Collectives and individuals with great contributions to preserving traditional culture honoured with Dao Tan Award
ABO/NDO- A total of 18 collectives and individuals with outstanding contributions to preserving traditional culture over the past year were honoured with the Dao Tan Award 2024 at a ceremony in Hanoi on September 22.
The award was named after Dao Tan (1845-1907) — a celebrated poet, Tuong (classical drama) composer, and artisan of Vietnam.

Dao Tan Award was initiated in 2000by the Research Institute for the Conservation and Development of Ethnic Culture in collaboration with the Vietnam Civilisation and Culture Magazine to acknowledge those who have made significant contributions to boosting cultural exchange and integration of the country while preserving and promoting traditional Vietnamese cultural and arts.
Speaking at the award ceremony, journalist Nguyen The Khoa, Deputy Director of the Institute for Research on Preservation and Promotion of National Culture and Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Culture Magazine, said that this year’s event attracted the participation of 50 artworks, art troupes, and artists.
The organisers presented prizes to the six best literary and art works, five best stage plays, and two best non-professional art troupes.
Five individual prizes were also awarded at the ceremony, including the Lifetime Achievement, Best Cultural Manager, Best Art Trainers, Best Arts Programme Organiser, and Best Singer and Musician on the theme of Hanoi.
