Each line of folk paintings not only carries the artistic values of different periods, but also contains unique cultural stories reflecting the people’s age-old aspirations for a peaceful, prosperous and happy life.
With natural colour combinations, harmonious compositions, and skilful carving and drawing techniques that convey profound messages about life, folk paintings have contributed to shaping the identity of Vietnamese folk art in particular and Vietnamese cultural identity in general.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum, expressed her sincere thanks to the artisans from across the country who have made great efforts to collect, preserve, and create the folk paintings.
She added that through the exhibition, the museum hopes to evoke national pride and community cohesion in preserving and promoting cultural heritage, while also creating opportunities for the public to better understand the value of folk art — a precious treasure of the Vietnamese people.
