Book on Vietnamese ethnic minority women's costumes introduced
ABO/NDO- On April 19, at Ha Giang Provincial Museum, the Ha Giang Women's Union, in collaboration with various agencies and organisations, held the opening ceremony for the exhibition of ethnic minority costumes and the launch of the book “Journey: The radiant costumes of Vietnamese ethnic minority women”, themed “Dare to live a radiant life”.
The exhibition showcases 99 works, including paintings, video clips, and photographs capturing the daily life and traditional attire of women from Vietnam’s ethnic minority groups, with representation from 15 ethnic minority communities living in Ha Giang.

This was the result of the passion and dedication of director and former journalist Nguyen Bong Mai, who spent time travelling, conducting field research, and writing the book to explore and preserve the traditional cultural values of ethnic minorities.
The exhibition aims to inspire courage, initiate, and overcome gender stereotypes, to nurture the love for traditional culture, while preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic groups in connection with sustainable tourism development. It also honours the beauty of Vietnamese women in their traditional costumes.
At the event, director and former journalist Nguyen Bong Mai shared valuable experiences from her 99-day journey across Vietnam. She engaged in discussions to explore fresh and creative directions for preserving and promoting traditional cultural heritage.
