Over 1,000 artists compete in 8th Vietnam International Choir Competition 2025
ABO/NDO- On the evening of April 9, the 8th Vietnam International Choir Competition officially commenced in Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, featuring professional and captivating performances by international choirs.
Co-organised biennially by Hoi An City and Germany’s INTERKULTUR, the competition has become a cultural highlight, leaving a lasting impression on participating artists, locals, and visitors alike.
The 2025 edition, taking place from April 9 to 13, welcomes over 1,000 artists from 29 choir ensembles representing countries such as Canada, Poland, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

Participants will compete in 11 disciplines across seven categories, showcasing both technical excellence and the unique cultural identities of their respective nations.
Beyond the competitive performances, the event features a vibrant cultural programme, including river-based art shows such as “A Night on the Hoai River,” a re-creation of “Hoi An Ancient Town in the Early 20th Century,” and street choir performances titled “International Melodies.”
Visitors will also have opportunities to explore Hoi An’s rich cultural and tourist landmarks.
With a prestigious organising committee and an internationally recognised panel of judges, the competition reflects the artistic and organisational strengths of Hoi An, whose residents are praised for their warmth and hospitality.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Chairman of Hoi An City Nguyen Van Lanh emphasised that the competition not only promotes Vietnamese culture but also serves as a vital platform for artistic exchange and global friendship—helping to elevate choral music and foster deeper cultural connections worldwide.
