Initially, the list featured midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai. However, due to a scheduling conflict with the final of the ASEAN Club Championship, the Ha Noi Police player withdrew to prioritise his club commitments.
Viet Nam national team head coach, Kim Sang Sik, who will also lead the ASEAN All-Stars, called up Nguyen Hai Long and Nguyen Van Vi as replacements.
Both players have been in excellent form recently, with Long scoring the decisive goal in the second leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup final. Vi has consistently performed in the national team’s defence, especially during the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
The match between ASEAN All-Stars and Manchester United is part of the Maybank Challenge Cup, a sporting event aiming to raise funds for the Malaysian charitable organisation YASA.
As scheduled, the ASEAN All-Stars squad will gather in Kuala Lumpur before May 25.
